The Loft takes the whole top of the house. You reach it by its own wooden stair, and once you are up there it is yours: a king bed under the beams, two single beds behind a heavy curtain at the far end, and three skylights that open onto the sky over the harbour.
In the room
The ceiling slopes, so the tall should mind the beams by the bed. There is a long table for maps and books, a kettle and cups, and a bathroom with a shower under the eaves. The singles suit children or a second couple who do not mind a curtain for a wall.
Families take it for a week and stop coming downstairs except to eat.
Good to know
The stair is steep and there is no lift, so it is not a room for small children on their own or for anyone who finds stairs hard. Two guests are included in the rate; the third and fourth are twenty-five euro a night each, which covers breakfast and the extra beds. Minimum three nights.
